6 Heart strings

Sitting on my bed, in the comfort of my home.

I play my guitar listening to each tone.

Joyful, tearful, angry, peaceful.

6 heart strings all their own.

Play them together make your heart flutter.

Feel the strings running also down your throat.

1 is of this world, the one I live in.

the one that shapes me, narrows my path.

2 is for family, friendship, and people, they live deep inside me.

They shape me, change me, as I mirror them.

Find how I’m different show me my gems.

3 is for talent the work that makes my heart sing.

What gives me my moment something my own.

4 is for failure the barriers I cross.

Things that make me feel like I’m at a great loss.

Push me forward hold me back, tell me these things that I lack.

5 is for country, neighbourhood, street. Prideful I can be, hopeless I can also.

Culture I could accept, roads I could follow.

Opportunities set before me sometimes too narrow, sometimes too wide.

6 is for gender and the identity you find.

Some find simplicities, skirts, shorts, pants, sport, art, math.

Some find it hard, non-existent or weird, they find tears and unacceptance but a community.

Follow it or not, pink or blue, find what’s right just for you.

These are the strings in my heart, heart strings play in combination.

make up my song, play my guitar.
